What is Education Design?
For those who are interested in helping students create a unique education that maximizes their talents, leverages their learning style and prepares them for their own best future in the global economy, education design provides an opportunity to transcend any prescribed path and make the most of all options available.
It's not about promoting charter schools, homeschooling, unschooling or virtual schools--but these are viable choices for any student crafting a perfect personalized education.
It's not about pooh-poohing college--we value college degrees (done right, that is) and encourage students to create the one that is the best fit for them while also engaging in self-study that is meaningful and fulfilling.
It's not about getting outraged about the failures of the US education system--it's a recognition of the incredible freedom we have in the US to either follow the rules or create our own.
And it's not about changing the world through education reform. We're not trying to redesign the system--though we support those who are working to do just that. This is a micro model--we're encouraging high expectations for each student rather than promoting reform measures for the entire school population.
We recognize that the best options for each student may not be the ones presented in traditional models, and we support and encourage parents as they become mentors who can help their students design an education that will allow them to soar.
For those who embrace education design as an opportunity for creativity, the sky's the limit. There are no barriers to entry--in fact, the best options are very affordable and accessible to any student interested in creating a customized learning adventure.
Well, there is one barrier: attachment to old ideas about what education looks like and how long it takes.
But don't worry. We can get around that one! That's why this site and the book, The New Global Student, offer a chance to see how the Bold School approach can transform students and catapult them into the global economy at 20 with sizzling 21st century skills, a red-hot college diploma, outrageously relevant experience, big-grin enthusiasm--and no debt.
We invite you to explore the fun, freedom and financial rewards of the Bold School model and engage in the creative and rewarding process of education design.
